Golden Tate Comes to Cougar Canyon

On Wednesday, May 9, our school was filled with excitement, NFL style. One of our students, Keanen Tregaskis, won a National On-line Contest. He and his family enjoyed breakfast with Golden Tate (wide receiver for the Seattle Seahawks). While the family and friends enjoyed the time at Keanen's house, students at Cougar Canyon were getting ready to welcome our special guest. Hundreds of students gathered along our driveway, waiting for the limo to arrive.

The student chants got louder as the 'entourage' drove down Lyon Street and even louder as the turn was made into driveway.

Golden spent time with Div. 10 (Keanen's class) in the classroom and then joined them in the gym for a circuit course of fun physical activities that included skipping ropes, hula hoops, weights and footballs. Smiles filled our gymnasium.

After spending time with our staff at recess, Golden Tait spoke to our whole school (including many parents) about the importance of working hard, being physically active, good nutrition and being a good person.

Golden Tait (and the representatives from the NFL) were very impressed with our school. They were blown away with the decorations that filled our school, especially the wonderful artwork by Div. 8.

The school was left with a lot of NFL schwag, which we will use for prizes.
