Cougar Canyon Elementary’s School Goal: 

With a Social-Emotional focus, we strive to have every student at Cougar Canyon Elementary feel connected to multiple adults in the building who they feel believe in them. Our focus is to support students in building their resilience, grit, perseverance, and self-regulation skills when faced with adversity socially, emotionally and academically.

In alliance with Delta School District’s Vision 2030, we strive to: 

• Have learners feeling deeply engaged with their learning 
• Support students with their mental health and well-being 
• Provide opportunities for students to tackle real world challenges

School initiatives for 2026/27 School Year:

• Our Pro-D Committee is currently planning a “Year of Pro-D” in addition to our monthly staff meetings to revisit and reassess our goal and the progress we are making each month
• Book Club: 2025/26 – “Reclaiming our students” by Hannah Beach
• Book Club: 2026/27 – TBD
• Develop a schoolwide behaviour matrix with common language used by staff and students
• Be Good People program (in classrooms and schoolwide assemblies)
